Ahead of the 6th Ghana Tertiary Fashion Awards, happening on Saturday, November 30 at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra – Ghana, Enoch Kwaa, a student from Tads Fashion Institute speak about himself and how he has evolve as a young creative.
Who is Enoch Kwaa? (Tell us about yourself)
I’m Enoch Kwaa, a passionate and innovative young creative with a drive to make a mark in the fashion industry. I’ve always been fascinated by art, design, and self-expression. As a student studying fashion design and technology, I’ve honed my skills in fashion design, photography, and styling.
How have you evolved as a young creative while studying?
Throughout my academic journey, I’ve grown exponentially as a creative. I’ve explored various mediums, experimented with different styles, and developed a unique aesthetic. Collaborations with peers, mentorship from industry professionals, and hands-on projects have refined my skills. I’ve learned to balance artistic vision with technical expertise, preparing me for the ever-evolving fashion landscape.
What does GTFA mean to you, and how does it feel being a nominee in the 2024 edition?
GTFA represents excellence, innovation, and community in the fashion industry. Being nominated for the 2024 edition is an incredible honor, validating my hard work and dedication. It’s a platform to showcase my talents, connect with industry leaders, and inspire fellow creatives.
What are your expectations for this year’s show?
I anticipate an electrifying event celebrating diversity, creativity, and African fashion excellence. I’m excited to network with fellow nominees, learn from industry experts, and witness breathtaking performances. The show will undoubtedly inspire and elevate the continent’s fashion landscape.
Tell us about your current projects and work; what have you been working on?
Currently, I’m working on a captivating collection for the Accra Mall Fashion Fund, drawing inspiration from vintage elegance. Titled ‘Antiquarom,’ this collection seamlessly blends timeless elements with modern twists, reimagining the rich cultural heritage of Ghana for the contemporary fashion landscape.
What are your plans for the near future (further study/internship/work)?
Post-graduation, I plan to intern with renowned fashion houses or sustainable fashion initiatives. I’m considering a master’s program in fashion design or entrepreneurship to further refine my skills. Ultimately, I aim to establish my own eco-friendly fashion label, promoting African excellence and responsible fashion practices.
What aspect of the fashion industry do you want to help improve or have a positive impact on?
I’m passionate about promoting sustainability, body positivity, and diversity in the fashion industry. I believe African designers can lead the charge in eco-friendly fashion, preserving traditional techniques while innovating for a greener future.

To aspiring creatives, I say: stay true to your vision, embrace challenges, and celebrate your uniqueness. Fashion is a powerful tool for self-expression and social change. Let’s harness our collective creativity to build a more inclusive, sustainable, and vibrant industry.
